This is the procedure by which an authoritative body formally recognises that a body or a person is competent to carry out specific tasks. In terms of certification schemes, an accreditation body, such as UKAS, ensures that certification bodies, such as BSI Management Systems, are in compliance of any certification rules and that they meet all of the requirements to be an impartial organisation when issuing certificates. -
CE marking is a declaration by the manufacturer that the product meets all the appropriate provisions of the relevant legislation implementing certain European Directives. CE marking gives companies easier access into the European market to sell their products without adaptation or rechecking. They are a declaration by the manufacturer that his product meets the requirements of the applicable European Directive(s). -
The Kitemark - recognised worldwide as a symbol of trust, integrity and quality - has been made a 'Business Superbrand' for the first time in its long history. A registered certification mark owned and awarded by BSI, the Kitemark was originally developed by the British Standards Institution. -
The Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) has been working with industry and government for more than 100 years to set the standards needed to ensure that fire and security products and services perform effectively. LPCB offers third-party approval confirming that products and services have met and will continue to meet these standards -

Millions of products and their components are tested to UL's rigorous safety standards with the result that consumers live in a safer environment than they would have otherwise. Through UL Environment, UL is also developing Standards for Sustainability for both products and organizations. -
All MED approved Fire Extinguishers are approved to Marine Equipment Directive 96/98/EG. The fire extinguishers are also BS EN 3 Kitemarked and CE Marked. Additionally, FM Approvals is a testing institute in which construction components, materials and systems are inspected to identify levels of potential risk when used in an application. FM Approvals certification assures that a product or system has been objectively tested and conforms to the highest national and international standards. As a result of a successful test, FM Global then recommends its clients to use the approved products and systems in any new build construction as well as in any refurbishment project.
