    Proposed Midlands Fire Station Site
    10th Feb 2012

THE West Midlands Fire Service will reveal the site and design its proposed new fire station between Halesowen & Cradley.

Halesowen Fire Station is due to close on March 31, providing campaigners’ plans for a judicial review of the decision fails, and the current Cradley Heath Fire Station will be used until the new station is finished.

After coming under fierce criticism for how the consultation was handled and being vague about details for the new station the fire service have released a statement confirming a new station will be definitely built.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “In the period since the Authority meeting, officers from West Midlands Fire Service have begun the process of identifying plots of land in the optimum site area which may be suitable for the new merged station, this will not include the current Cradley Heath fire station which is only being used as a temporary measure.

“The proposals, and potential locations, will be shared with communities across the Halesowen and Cradley Heath areas as part of an information process which will also outline potential design options for the new state of the art multi-bay fire station.”

The site and design of the new station will be revealed to the public in the coming weeks.
